Thommes Named NCC Offensive POW

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Middle blocker Ellen Thommes was named the North Central Confererence Offensive Player of the Week for her performances last week in sweeps over Upper Iowa and South Dakota.
Thommes, a freshman from Omaha, hit .514 (22k-3-e-37ta) while averaging 3.67 kills and 0.33 service aces per game. Against Upper Iowa, she hit .471 with nine kills, only one error, in 17 attempts. Thommes hit a scorching .550 in the win over USD, with a team-leading 13 kills, with two erros in 20 attempts. Thommes added six digs and four blocks in the win over the Coyotes.
The 19th-ranked Mavericks (19-6, 6-4 NCC) will host Augustana on Tuesday night, Oct. 31, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
