UNO Dominates FHSU to Stay Unbeaten

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Freshman Ellen Thommes blasted nine kills and hit .750 with no errors in 12 attempts as the 24th-ranked UNO Mavericks swept Fort Hays State 3-0 (30-13, 30-13, 30-19) to improve to 5-0 on the season while recording their second win of the day at the Missouri Western Ramada Inn Invitational.
The Mavericks, who defeated Emporia State in the tournament's first match 3-2 (26-30, 30-20, 30-19, 30-32, 16-14), hit a season high .354 for the match.
Senior Christina Reicks had a solid match with nine kills and 12 digs while hitting .429. Sophomore Annie Rice notched a match-high three service aces and recorded six digs. Freshman Kayla Jansen tied Reicks with a match-high 12 digs.
Nebraska-Omaha, which is now 4-0 against MIAA teams this season, will face two more MIAA opponents Saturday as they battle tournament host Missouri Western at noon and Northwest Missouri State at 4 p.m.
