No. 5 UMD Sweeps UNO in NCC Opener

DULUTH, Minn. -- Plagued by 23 hitting errors, the 12th-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team hit just .080 as fifth-ranked Minnesota Duluth swept UNO 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-20) in the North Central Conference opener for both teams Friday night at Romano Gymnasium.
Junior Carlie Christensen was the only Maverick to hit above .300 as she collected nine kills on .316 hitting to go along with three blocks. Freshmen Ellen Thommes and Kelli Goeser each added seven kills for the UNO offense.
The Maverick defense was led by senior libero Stacie Wemhoff who notched a match-high 14 digs.
The Mavericks will return to NCC action on Saturday night when they head to Mankato, Minn. for a 7 p.m. contest with Minnesota State.
