Mavs Remain Unbeaten with 2 Sweeps

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The 24th-ranked UNO Maverick volleyball team remained unbeaten on the season with two victories on Saturday at the Missouri Western Ramada Inn Invitational. UNO swept host Missouri Western 30-22, 30-25, 30-20 and Northwest Missouri State 30-22, 30-28, 34-32 to improve to 7-0 on the season.
Junior Carlie Christensen and senior Christina Reicks each recorded 14 kills to lead UNO in the win over MWSU. Christensen hit .500 in the match and also recorded four blocks. Reicks notched her fourth double-double of the year by adding 12 digs.
Freshman Kayla Jansen contributed with 10 digs and two service aces while senior Stacie Wemhoff also added 10 digs.
UNO outhit the Griffins .304 to .096 in the match and held a decisive 51 to 38 advantage in digs.
Christensen once again led UNO in the win over Northwest Missouri by blasting 13 kills with no errors in 19 attempts for a sizzling .684 hitting percentage. She also added five blocks and two service aces.
Reicks and freshman Kelli Goeser each collected 12 kills for the UNO offense. Junior Nicole McLeod added eight kills and five blocks.
Wemhoff led the Maverick defense with 11 digs.
Christensen, Reicks, and Wemhoff were all named to the all-tournament team.
