Mavs Pick Up Crucial Road Win at Wayne State

WAYNE, Neb. -- Junior middle blocker Carlie Christensen recorded 20 kills as five Mavericks notched double-figure kill totals to propel the 12th-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team to a 3-1 (30-26, 27-30, 30-19, 30-18) road win over Wayne State Tuesday night at Rice Auditorium.
UNO improved to 8-0 on the season with the victory.
Christensen, who also added five blocks, hit .457 for the match with four errors in 35 attempts. Junior rightside hitter Nicole McLeod notched a career-high 17 kills on .472 hitting with no errors in 36 attempts.
Senior Christina Reicks collected her fifth double-double of the year with 12 kills and 24 digs. Freshman Kelli Goeser registered 11 kills, five digs and three blocks while freshman Ellen Thommes added 10 kills and five blocks.
Junior setter Katie Agnew effectively distributed the ball guiding the Mavericks to a .250 hitting percentage while notching a double-double with 53 assists and 18 digs to go along with four blocks and two service aces.
The Mavericks were led defensively by senior libero Stacie Wemhoff's 26 digs.
Nebraska-Omaha held Wayne State (7-2) to .101 hitting as both teams recorded 11 team blocks.
The Mavericks will travel to Topeka, Kan. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9, where they will battle Fort Hays State, No. 4 Truman State, ninth-ranked Washburn, and Emporia State in the Washburn Lady Blues Classic.
