Kampschnieder Leads UNO Over Alumni in Exhibition

OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior outside hitter Sara Kampschnieder pounded 12 kills to lead the 2008 UNO Mavericks to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-12) win over the UNO Alumni Saturday night in exhibition volleyball action at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
Junior middle blocker Ellen Thommes hit .571 with nine kills and only one error in 14 attempts as UNO hit .223 as a team in the match.
Freshman Lizzy Mach produced a match-high seven blocks as the Mavericks held a commanding 13-3 advantage in total team blocks.
Nebraska-Omaha was led defensively by junior Kayla Jansen and freshman Angie Reicks who each registered nine digs in the victory.
The Mavericks will open the 2008 regular season next Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29-30, when they host the nine-team Comfort Inn & Suites/Firewater Grille Tournament in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
