Thommes Earns All-America Honor

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Senior middle blocker #Ellen Thommes# was named a second team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after she finished her UNO career near the top of several statistical categories.
Thommes finished second in the MIAA and 13th in the nation with a .388 attack percentage. That mark was the third highest in UNO single-season history and her .342 career attack percentage was also the third best at UNO.
Thommes led UNO with 3.16 kills per set, 1.02 blocks and 3.97 points. She was ranked second in the MIAA in blocks and fourth in points in the latest statistics report.
Thommes earned first team all-region AVCA honor and second team all-region from Daktronics this year. She earned honorable mention AVCA all-South Central Region last year.
She is the latest All-American at UNO since Carlie Christensen earned AVCA second team honor in 2007.
The Mavericks finished the year 20-14 and sixth in the MIAA at 10-10. They advanced to the NCAA tournament for the sixth straight year.
