Mavs Host Media Day Then Play Intrasquad Scrimmage

OMAHA, Neb. - The Maverick volleyball team held its annual Media Day Tuesday afternoon in Sapp Fieldhouse and then played an intrasquad scrimmage to finish the evening. The White Team defeated the Red Team in four sets, 25-18, 25-16, 16-25, 25-20.
Sara Kampschnieder and Kayla Uhing had 14 kills each and Emily Myers and Kayla Knobbe had 29 assists each for their respective squads.
The Mavericks will return to the court Saturday for their annual Alumni Game at 5 p.m. at Sapp and then begin the 40th season of Maverick volleyball on August 29-30 when they host the UNO Volleyball Showcase.
All seven starters from last year's 16-16 squad will return. UNO finished sixth in the MIAA with a 12-8 record and played in the NCAA tournament for the 18th time in school history.
Head coach Rose Shires will return for her 20th season with the Mavericks 13 wins shy of 400 in her career with a 387-215 record.
