Scouting the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
Oral Roberts enters the week with a record of 12-13 (6-6 Summit League) after dropping a 3-0 loss to Fort Wayne on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. The Golden Eagles are led by Laura Milos's 4.28 kills per set this year, which ranks second in the Summit League, and her 0.39 service aces per set pace the conference. Head coach Sheera Sirola is in her 12th season at ORU and holds a career record of 221-146.
Oral Roberts leads the all-time series against Omaha, 4-1. The two schools last played on Oct. 17, when the Mavericks took a 3-0 sweep at Sapp Fieldhouse.

Omaha's blocking corps has been outstanding during the 2014 season, and the statistics say it all. The Mavericks have outblocked their opponents a combined 231-154.5 and have tallied double-digit team blocks in 12 matches. As such, the Mavericks, who may not officially be listed in the NCAA Division I stats release, are unofficially ranked 38th in the country with 231 total blocks, and they are 53rd nationally with 2.43 blocks per set. Individually, junior Megan Schmale is 64th among Division I blockers with 106 total blocks.
The Block Party: Summit League Style
Omaha claims four of the top 10 spots on the Summit League's individual blocking leaders list. Redshirt freshman middle blocker Amanda Conlin is third with 1.19 blocks per set, junior middle blocker Megan Schmale is fourth (1.12), junior setter/rightside hitter Michaela Schimmer is fifth (0.98) and junior middle blocker Diane Banderas is sixth (0.97). Schmale also ranks first in the conference with 100 block assists and is second with 106 total blocks.
As a team, Omaha is second in the league for total blocks (231), blocks per set (2.43) and block assists (404).
Last Time Out: Mavericks Dominate in Sweep of South Dakota State
Omaha put together a dominating performance Sunday afternoon, sweeping conference foe South Dakota State 3-0 (25-19, 25,17, 15-16). UNO was led offensively by junior outside hitter Kelley Wollak, who had a match-high 18 kills while hitting .375. Freshman setter Sydney O'Shaughnessy achieved her team-leading 14th double-double with a match-high 44 assists and 19 digs, in addition to a match-best three service aces.
Sophomore middle blocker Amanda Conlin led the charge at the net, finishing with a team-best three blocks. Junior setter/rightside hitter Michaela Schimmer and freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Horkey also had strong performances, totaling nine kills apiece, while Horkey added 12 digs.
SDSU managed to outblock Omaha on the day, 5-4. The Jackrabbits were no match for the Mavericks' season-best .316 attack percentage, however, as UNO limited SDSU to a .089 effort.
