
Senior Sydney O'Shaughnessy capped her Maverick career with both All-Summit and Academic All-Summit recognition.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior Sydney O'Shaughnessy was named to the 2017 Summit League Volleyball All-League Team, the conference office announced Wednesday.
A two-time All-Summit setter, O'Shaughnessy averaged 10.05 assists, 2.87 digs, 0.96 kills, 0.30 service aces and 0.35 blocks per set in her senior campaign. She ranked second among league setters for assists per set and tallied 14 double-doubles in 2017 with 12 performances featuring 40 or more assists. The Omaha native was 17th among the NCAA's Division I active career leaders for assists and finished her career No. 2 in Omaha history and sixth in league history in the category.
O'Shaughnessy is on track to graduate in May 2018 with her bachelor's degree in studio art with minor in art history and a concentration in painting. She has carried a 3.50 grade-point average and is a member of the UNO Dean's List and the Summit League's Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The volleyball all-league team is made up of the six student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
