Volleyball faces first conference road test

VERMILLION, S.D. - Omaha volleyball (4-9, 2-0 Summit League) hits the road for the first time in league play this season on Saturday, Oct. 5 when the Mavericks look to maintain the top position in the Summit League at South Dakota as the first and second place clubs in the conference do battle at 6 p.m. CT on the Summit League Network.
Omaha enjoyed a bye on Thursday, Oct. 3, while South Dakota fell in straight sets to St. Thomas. Omaha swept the Tommies on Sept. 28.
The Mavericks, 2023 regular season and tournament champions, average 19.83 points per set as a team in conference play, the most of any Summit League program. Omaha's hitting percentage (.332) also leads the league and Matt Buttermore's side holds the edge in kills with 16.33 per set, followed by South Dakota's 15.78 in nine frames.
Omaha's Emily Huss boasts the second-highest hitting percentage in the conference at .474 and McKenna Ruch sits fourth in kills (league matches only) with 22 in six conference sets, averaging just shy of four a night.
After the trip north to Vermillion, Omaha heads to Brookings, S.D. to face South Dakota State before coming home to take-on North Dakota State at 6 p.m. CT inside Baxter Arena live on the Summit League Network. Tickets are on-sale now at OMavs.com/Tix.
