Masek, Denney Star in Mav Scrimmage
Junior quarterback Brian Masek passed for two touchdowns to Chris Denney Saturday to highlight the University of Nebraska at Omaha's final spring scrimmage.
The offense scored three touchdowns after the defense had scored twice on a pair of blocked punts in the 100-minute scrimmage at Caniglia Field.
Masek, from Columbus, Neb., completed 12 of 13 passes for 200 yards. Denney, a junior wide receiver from Norfolk, Neb., caught eight passes for 117 yards, with seven of the receptions coming from Masek.
Johnson recovered the first blocked punt in the end zone for the first touchdown of the day. A series later, Johnson scooped up another block, then pitched it to linebacker Kenny Onatolu at the 25-yard line. Onatolu, a sophomore from Papillion, Neb., completed the play with a touchdown.
The offense scored its first time on fullback Shawn Ostlund's one-yard run. Masek then passed three yards to Denney on fourth down and later hit him with a 25-yard scoring toss.
Sophomore running back Scott Anderson from Milo, Iowa, led the scrimmage with 12 carries for 28 yards.
