Mavericks Face 2 Top-5 Teams on the Road
UNO, ranked No. 1 in NCAA II and 6-0 in duals, faces a pair of non-conference road dual meets this week against top-ranked teams. The Mavs will be at No. 3 ranked Central Oklahoma (11-2) on Friday at 7 p.m. in Edmond, Okla., and then will take on No. 5 ranked Nebraska-Kearney (10-3) Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cushing Coliseum.

The Mavericks remained perfect in dual competition with a pair of road victories over St. Cloud State and defending NCAA III champion Augsburg. UNO recorded seven falls en route to a 53-0 win at St. Cloud State, then won seven matches in a 24-10 win over Augsburg. The victories ran the UNO record to 6-0 on the season.
The Coach
Mike Denney is in his 27th season as the Maverick head coach. The Dakota Wesleyan graduate has a 258-101-5 career mark. He has twice been named the NCAA II National Coach of the Year and led the 1991, 2004 and 2005 Mavericks to NCAA II national championships. UNO has also won three National Dual titles, in 1997, 2005 and 2006.
Maverick Notes...
The Mavs were expecting to participate in the Great Plains Open in Lincoln, Neb., last Saturday, however, that meet was canceled...Les Sigman, expected to miss another week with a shoulder injury, returned to the lineup at Augsburg and registered a fall for his 63rd consecutive win...The UNK dual meet this week and the Southern Illionois-Edwardsville dual in Omaha Feb. 12, have both been changed to 4 p.m. starts.
On Deck
UNO returns home to host its only two home duals Feb. 10 vs. No. 2 ranked Minnesota State, Mankato at 7 p.m. and Feb. 12 vs. Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at 4 p.m. at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. UNO will conclude its dual season Feb. 15 at Augustana.
