Spring Practice Starts Early for Mavericks
Nebraska-Omaha will open spring practice dark and early Tuesday. About 65 Mavericks, including 34 letterwinners, will hold the first of 15 practice sessions at 6 a.m. at Caniglia Field.
UNO, because of class schedule conflicts, will work out on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 a.m., Fridays at 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays at either 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.
Maverick season football tickets will go onsale to the general public on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Reserved-seat season tickets are $75 and include all UNO regular season home games as well as the first round of the NCAA Playoffs. Season tickets may be purchased by calling 554-MAVS (6287) or in person at the UNO Ticket Office located in the Sapp Fieldhouse on the UNO campus.
The Mavericks will return 14 starters, with 10 lost, including kickers. UNO has six starters back and six lost on offense; seven back and four lost on defense and returns one kicker, with one punter lost.
The Mavericks will hold a game-type scrimmage at Caniglia Field at 1 p.m. on April 12.

UNO was 10-1 in 2007, its 12th straight winning season, and captured the North Central Conference title for a fourth straight time. The Mavericks recorded their first undefeated regular season, going 10-0, since 1954.
UNO will compete in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 2008. The Mavericks open the season Sept. 6 at home against Nebraska-Kearney.
