UNO Announces 2009 Football Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Nebraska at Omaha announced its football schedule for the 2009 season today. It features two non-conference games to begin the season followed by nine straight games against opponents from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Conference.
The eleven-game schedule will feature five home games and six road games. It begins on Thursday, Aug. 27 with a home game against East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma. The Tigers play out of the Lone Star Conference and are a member of the NCAA Division II South Central Region. The Mavericks follow that game with their traditional in-state rivalry game against Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Kearney.
The Mavericks begin the MIAA schedule at home against Truman State University on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Caniglia Field. They’ll then play three straight road games including a stop in Maryville, Mo. to take on NCAA Division II runner-up Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, Sept. 19.
UNO will host Washburn University on Saturday, Oct. 10 for Homecoming. The Mavericks will finish the season with three of their final five games at home. In addition to Washburn, Central Missouri and Pittsburg State will make their first trips to Omaha since the Mavericks joined the MIAA. The complete schedule is below.
