Mavericks Move Up in West Region Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After entering the polls for the first time in program history last week, the Omaha men's soccer team jumped up two spots to seventh in the latest Division I West Region poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Wednesday.
“The ranking is very rewarding for our young program,” head coach Jason Mims said. “It shows that the difficult early scheduling and our competitiveness is paying off.”
UNO swept a pair of home games last weekend. Omaha defeated Cincinnati 3-1 on Friday and Belmont 3-1 on Sunday.
Mims says his team is focused on moving forward. “Our goals have nothing to do with rankings and everything to do with being determined every day to become better and improving every weekend.”
The Mavericks are one of three Summit League teams in the west region top 10. Denver remains atop the western region with a 2-2 record.
UNO will be on the road for its next three games. The Mavericks play next at UMKC on Saturday, Sept. at 1p.m. They return home on Saturday, Sept. 27 for their Summit League opener against Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m.
