Comeback Effort Falls Short in 5-Set Loss to Bulld

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks battled back after a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set, but their comeback effort fell short in a 3-2 loss to Truman Saturday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
No. 21 Truman took the match, 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 17-25, 15-12, to improve to 16-8 and 4-4 in the MIAA. No. 15 UNO fell to 17-5 and 7-2 in the league while losing at home for the first time this year.
The match was Dig Pink night and fans were encouraged to wear pink to help create awareness for breast cancer. Both teams wore pink jerseys to show their support.
#Kelli Goeser led the Mavs with 17 kills as the team had 55 kills. Ellen Thommes had 11 kills and Lizzy Mach and Sara Kampschnieder# had 10 each.
#Emily Myers led UNO with 48 assists and also contributed two aces. Natalie Ebke# had five aces and the team totalled nine.
Kampschneider led UNO with 26 digs and the Mavs had 98 digs in the match.
The Mavericks lost set one and two but came back to win set three and four. Set five was close with UNO taking a 3-2 lead and holding it until Truman tied the set at 12-12. TSU clinched the match with four straight points scored on serves by Molly Sinclair.
The Mavericks will be on the road Thursday at Central Missouri and will be back home October 21 to play Missouri Southern State with a game time of 5 p.m.
