
Mavs Top Nebraska Wesleyan 3-0 to End Spring

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO men's soccer team closed out its 2013 spring season with a 3-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday, April 19 at the UNO Soccer Field.
The Mavericks scored all three goals in the first half and dominated play throughout the game.
Vance Rookwood got UNO's scoring started. Craig Buettner played in a ball from the right side to Rookwood, who gathered it near the edge of the six-yard box and fired home for a 1-0 lead.
Omaha scored again on a corner kick by Logan Mendez that found center back Nick Miller crashing the back door. Miller volleyed it into the net to make it 2-0.
The final goal came from Cody Thayer. Chava Garcia collected a loose ball and slipped it between two defenders to Thayer, who finished from the left side of the box into the lower right corner past an oncoming goalkeeper.
The Mavericks will have 11 players back this fall who started at least seven games last season and 15 letterwinners in all return. The Mavs went 3-3-1 in their first Summit League season to finish in a tie for fourth place.
