Alihodzic, da Silva Earn NSCAA Honors

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha senior defender Felipe da Silva and senior midfielder Emir Alihodzic earned All-West Region Third Team honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. It's first time in program history UNO has placed two student-athletes on the NSCAA all-region teams.
Da Silva capped his senior season with two goals from his central defensive position in 15 games. He was named the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award Runner-Up last season. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native leaves UNO as a three-time Academic All-League selection and as a three-time first team all-conference selection. He was named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-Region team. For his career, da Silva had 16 points on seven goals and two assists. He ranks fifth all-time in goals scored and is the program's all-time leader in minutes played with 5,655.
Alihodzic wrapped up his Maverick career by appearing in 17 games. He finished third on the team in scoring with ten points on four goals and two assists. Alihodzic tallied two game winning goals, and played in all six Summit League contests. He was twice honored as an All-Summit League Second Team selection. Alihodzic was a named to the Academic All-League team and was placed on the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence. He was also on the Summit League Academic Honor Roll twice during his career. Alihodzic ended his career with 19 career points on eight goals and three assists.
The Mavericks reached the Summit League semifinals for the first time in program history after a second-place finish in the regular season. Omaha won nine games for the second-most in program history and placed five student-athletes on the All-Summit League teams, including two first team selections. UNO was ranked as high as No. 23 in the NSCAA NCAA Division I Men's National Rankings and had four players named to the 2015 Summit League Men's Soccer Academic All-League team.
