Hamzat, Ghitis Garner Weekly Summit League Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – Joseph Ghitis was named Summit League Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week, and junior forward Emmanuel Hamzat was selected Summit League Offensive Player of the Week for their performances the week of Oct. 17-23, the conference office announced Monday.
Ghitis collects his third player of the week honor this season and the fifth award of his career. He went 2-0 with one shutout, 10 saves, a .909 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average last week. He collected six saves in a shutout victory at Bradley and added four more saves in a win at league foe Western Illinois.
Hamzat notches his first career offensive player of the week award after scoring three goals and adding an assist for seven total points. He recorded his first career brace with a pair of goals in a 4-0 win at Bradley. Hamzat added the game-tying goal in the 28th minute and assisted on the game-winning goal at the 35:47 mark in Saturday's 2-1 win at Western Illinois.
Eastern Illinois' Mike Novotny joined Ghitis as Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
