Ibisevic Invited to Bosnia-Herzegovina National Team Camp

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha sophomore forward Elvir Ibisevic was selected to the Bosnia-Herzegovina Men's National Team, head coach Robert Prosinecki announced earlier this week.Â
Prosinecki named a provisional 21-player roster for the country's first national team camp of the year which is being held in Los Angeles. Â Of the camp invitees, Ibisevic is the only American college player.
"I am truly blessed and honored that I have the chance to represent my country," said Ibisevic. Â "Every little kid from Bosnia dreams about playing for their country, and now that dream has been made. Â It is difficult for me to describe all this with words. Â I am going to make the most of this opportunity."
A two-year starter, Ibisevic was an integral part of Omaha's run to the 2017 Summit League Postseason Tournament title and the program's first berth in the NCAA Tournament. Â He was named First Team All-Summit League after providing a team-high nine goals and adding an assist. Â Ibisevic finished the year ranked 49th in the country in goals per game (0.50) and led the conference in goals. Â The sophomore ranked in the top five in the league in goals, points (19), shots (47) and game-winning goals (3).
After a three-goal performance against then-No. 17 Virginia Tech on Aug. 27, Ibisevic was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week and earned NCAA National Player of the Week. Â He was a two-time Summit League Offensive Player of the Week and named the league's Male Athlete of the Month for August and September. Â Ibisevic also garnered United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-West Region accolades.
"Anytime a player gets called up to represent their country, it's a great accomplishment," said Omaha head coach Jason Mims. Â "It is also a valuable learning experience. Â We are thrilled for Elvir earning an invitation to the full Bosnia-Herzegovina national team while here at Omaha. Â It is another example of the growth and development of our program and reiterates to the guys to keep on working, believing and enjoying the process."
The final Bosnia-Herzegovina roster will be announced Saturday, Jan. 27 before games against the United States on Sunday, Jan. 28 in Carson, Calif., and Mexico on Jan. 31 in San Antonio. Â
