Men's Soccer Announces Changes to Denver Series
Mar 15, 2021 | Men's Soccer
OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha men's soccer has announced changes to its regular season series with Denver. The Mavericks now will host the Pioneers on Saturday, April 10 at 7 p.m., and then travel to Denver on Thursday, April 15 for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff.
The Mavericks were originally set to close regular season action at Denver on April 10. Because the Summit League women's soccer championships are being held in Omaha on April 15-17, the Pioneers had to host the second game of the series. There is no Summit League men's soccer tournament this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Weather has caused its fair share of disruption to the season series between Omaha and Denver. The two schools were scheduled to open the 2020-21 season on Feb. 13 at Caniglia Field, but that match was postponed due to winter weather in Omaha. The meeting was rescheduled for March 13 but that too was postponed due to a winter storm in Denver that prevented the Pioneers from traveling.
The Mavericks will host Eastern Illinois this weekend for a two-game series. Kickoff is set for Thursday, March 18 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, March 20 at 12 p.m. Admission is free, and fans will sit socially distanced. Gates will open one hour prior to kickoff.
