Dowell Extends Warming's Contract

OMAHA, Neb. – Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell has announced the contract extension of head men's soccer coach Bob Warming. Warming served as the head coach for the last three seasons.

"Throughout his career, Bob has had a tremendous impact on intercollegiate soccer including our men's soccer program," said Dowell. "We look forward to the future of Maverick Soccer under Bob's continued leadership."

Over his 43-year career, Warming sits at 479-260-88 and has the most wins of active coaches in NCAA Division I soccer.

In the spring of 2021, Warming helped the Mavericks to their first ever NCAA Tournament win with an upset vs. No. 23 UNC-Greensboro in the opening round of play. The win vs. UNCG made Warming the first coach in NCAA Division I soccer history to win with four different schools in the tournament.

Warming also coached Omaha to its first win vs. Creighton that same season. The Mavericks downed the Bluejays, 3-0. Similarly in the fall of 2021, Warming and the Mavericks beat Denver 2-0 on the Pioneers' home turf. It was the first win Omaha took over its league rival on the road in program history.

For the last two seasons, Warming coached the program's first All-American in Hugo Kametani. Kametani was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team following the spring 2021 season. He was also named the Summit League Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-Summit, and All-Newcomer. He led the league in goals scored and tied Omaha's single-season scoring record with nine goals.

In addition to Kametani, Warming helped the team rake in 20 All-League team recognitions, one Defensive player of the year Award, one Newcomer of the year Award, two United Soccer Coaches All-Region accolades, and a combined 12 academic honors over his first three seasons.

"I learned a long time ago that who you work for and who you work with are so important in life," said Warming. "The new Chancellor and Athletic Director are full of energy, vision, and work ethic. I could not be more excited about the trajectory of UNO and where the school is headed. There is no ceiling. Omaha is the most can do community I have ever lived in. We also have a vision and trajectory for our men's soccer program that I believe we can accomplish. I am grateful to be blessed with the passion to do my role in the great things ahead."
