Men's Soccer Announces Spring Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team announced its five-game spring schedule on Monday.  The Mavericks will host three matches and play two on the road.  The schedule will feature matches against two professional teams, as well as top teams from NCAA Division I and II and NAIA.
"We like to use our winter and spring season for player development," said head coach Jason Mims. "We are going up against perennial top five ranked college teams from NCAA Division I and II, NAIA, along with two professional teams who are affiliated with MLS and NASL. We have scheduled basically a team from every level of soccer in our country which will only assist with our program's player development this spring."
The Mavericks are coming off of their first Summit League postseason tournament berth and finished the 2015 season with a 9-6-3 overall record.
UNO will begin its spring season on the road against Minnesota United FC of the North American Soccer League. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start at  Parade Field in Minneapolis.
Next up for Omaha is the Oklahoma City Energy from the United Soccer League. The match will be played at Norman North High School in Norman, Okla. at 2 p.m.
UNO hosts Hastings College at the Omaha Sports Complex on Sunday, April 3 at 6 p.m. The Broncos have qualified for the NAIA National Tournament 11 of the previous 12 seasons. Rockhurst University visits Caniglia Field on Saturday, April 9 at 6 p.m. The Hawks advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2015.
Omaha battles Creighton in the annual Kicks for a Cure game on April 23 at 7 p.m. The 11th annual "Kicks For A Cure" match will be hosted at Caniglia Field this season. For more information on the event, go to www.kicksforacure.org.
