Mavericks Tabbed Second in Preseason League Poll

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team was picked second in the 2017 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Omaha received one first place vote and 21 total points for second, while last season's tournament champion Denver was the preseason league favorite with five first-place votes and 25 points overall.
Western Illinois came in third with 14 points, Oral Roberts was fourth with 13 points, Fort Wayne (nine) followed in fifth and Eastern Illinois (eight) rounded it out in sixth.
Senior Maverick defender Jacob Weiler was named to the Summit League Players to Watch list. Â Weiler anchored the Omaha defense last season and was a Second Team all-league honoree.
The regular season champion in 2016, Omaha will host the Summit League Men's Soccer Championship this season Nov. 9-11 at Caniglia Field. Â The top-four teams in the final league standings will advance to the tournament.
