Five Mavericks Grab All-Summit Recognition

DENVER, Colo. – Five members of the Omaha men's soccer team received All-Summit League honors, the league office announced on Wednesday evening.

Seth Rinderknecht and Marcos Bautista were named First-Team All-Summit and Cole Nelson garnered Second-Team All-Summit honors while Pep Mateu and Jeremy Pollard were selected to the All-Newcomer team.

Rinderknecht's selection is the third of his career after collecting First-Team All-Summit honors in 2016 and 2017. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native has totaled three points with a goal and an assist in 15 appearances while leading the Maverick defense to three shutouts this season.

Bautista tallied three points with a goal and an assist in the regular season while starting in all 15 matches for Omaha after landing on the All-Summit Second Team last season.

Nelson earned his second career Second-Team All-Summit accolade after earning the distinction in 2017. Following a redshirt season last year due to injury, the senior captain returned in 2019 and dished out an assist in 15 appearances, including 13 starts.

Mateu has started 12 matches for the Mavericks while helping the Omaha defense to three shutouts in 970 minutes of action this season.

Pollard has appeared in 14 matches between the pipes for the Mavericks, including 11 starts. The redshirt junior has a 3-3-3 record on the season with 34 saves, a .739 save percentage and 1.22 goals-against average.
