OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team picked up its fifth straight win, shutting out Eastern Illinois 2-0 for the second straight game at Caniglia Field.

The Mavericks got a goal in each half and three saves from Jeremy Pollard to improve to 5-1-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the Summit League. The Panthers fell to 0-6-2 overall and 0-5-2 in the league.

How It Happened

The Mavericks controlled the game from the outset. In the 12th minute, Tevin Rochester chased down a ball in the 18-yard box but was run into by EIU goaltender Jonathan Burke, leading to a penalty kick. Nil Ayats lofted the ball over Burke as he dove to his left, earning his fourth goal of the season.
In the second half, the Mavericks were awarded a free kick from just outside the top of the 18-hard box. Kenji Mboma Dem fired the ball inside the top corner for his second goal in as many games in the 58th minute.
