Kametani, Ayats Earn United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Hugo Kametani and Nil Ayats represent Omaha men's soccer on the All-West Region Team, United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday. Kametani picks up First Team honors, while Ayats earns Second Team accolades.
It marks the first All-Region honor for either player. Kametani's First Team nod is the first First Team honor in program history.
Kametani adds the First Team All-Region honor to his perviously earned 2020 Summit League Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-Summit, and All-Newcomer accolades. Kametani was also tabbed the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week twice this season.Â
The junior forward finished the season with 19 points, nine goals, and one assist. Kametani tied the single-season scoring record after netting two vs. No. 23 UNC-Greensboro. He is the fourth player to tally nine goals in one year.
Ayats' Second Team All-Region accolades comes after the senior midfielder earned First Team All-Summit honors earlier this year. Ayats was also tabbed Summit League Offensive Player of the Week on March 8.Â
The Taradell, Spain native finished the year with 14 points, five goals, and four assists. Ayats added 20 shots with 13 on goal. He scored the first goal vs. UNCG, which was the first goal scored in a NCAA Tournament game in program history.Â
