OMAHA - Omaha men's soccer's Italo Jenkins was named the Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon following his performances against No. 4 Creighton and Nebraska Wesleyan. It is Jenkins' first time winning the award.
The senior forward is putting together a strong season for the Mavs, and his impressive play continued this past week. Jenkins helped get the scoring started against No. 4 Creighton on Tuesday night when he beat the goalkeeper to a ball and got just enough of it to find Maguire Perkins, who converted to give Jenkins his first assist of the season.
Jenkins added four more points on Saturday against Nebraska Wesleyan, recording his second career brace with goals in the 16th and 60th minutes. The Atlanta, Georgia, native has tied his career high with four goals this season.
Jenkins and the Mavs will be back in action Saturday when they face UMass in Amherst at 11 a.m. on the Summit League Network.
